Getting the Love You Want-Workshop for Black Couples
The threats against Black couples are tremendous including – the stress of navigating the unrelenting power and influence of racism, discrimination and microaggressions on a daily basis. The tension in the day to day lives of Black couples, influenced by the challenges of being Black in America, is often defined by moments of conflict, disconnection and disloyalty.
Neuroscience has shown that interpersonal interactions and environmental experiences influences how the brain and mind are organized. When couples are in conflict, their survival brain (fight-flight response) and related childhood repressed memories can hold them hostage in a power struggle as both partners either withdraws or lashes out against a perceived threat. The body’s fight or flight response is also activated when dealing with chronic racism and its effects.
The “Getting the Love You Want Workshop,” based on Imago Relationship Therapy, offers couples some new concepts and skills that can be used to co-create an intimate relationship, experience and sustain deep connecting, and experience joy.
The skills include 1) learning a new way to talk; 2) removing all negativity, and 3) practicing daily connecting behaviors which activate the innate healing powers of intimate partnership, transforming conflict in any relationship to connecting.
Using the Imago principles and practices, couples transform their unconscious relationship, in which they were opponents, to a conscious partnership in which they co-create their dream relationship. In the process of becoming connected to each other, partners experience connecting to a larger reality, which makes intimate partnership a spiritual path.
This workshop is also offered internationally by Imago certified workshop presenters. Given its worldwide distribution over the past thirty years, it has helped thousands of couples transform their relationship, their lives and improve their overall well-being.
Whether your relationship is new or old, whether in crisis or in love, whether you are married or unmarried, you are invited to attend this transformative workshop. As you engage the process, you will be supported and assisted by an Imago qualified clinical staff.
